Subject: 43rd Annual Bucks-Montgomery School Bus Safety Competition

Date: February 19, 2016

Greetings! As you may know, each year since 1973, the school districts of Bucks and Montgomery Counties have joined together in the spring to hold the School Bus Safety Competition, aka, the Road-EO. This day long event allows us to showcase the remarkable skills that our drivers have as they maneuver through obstacle courses and pass a written knowledge exam. This year’s event will be at Willow Dale Elementary School, on Saturday, April 30, 2016 and we would like to cordially invite you to attend and cheer on your district’s team!

This is a tremendous collaborative effort between the participating districts. Because it is a day long event, we provide a continental breakfast and a lunch to all of our participant drivers and judges. In addition, we have always tried to make sure that each competing driver receives some memento of the day (t-shirts, mugs, tote bags) along with a certificate of participation. The winning drivers receive trophies and ribbons. The winning team is also awarded a trophy. The participation in this event has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few years and this year we anticipate a competing field of over 80 drivers!

The cost of holding our competition has grown along with the participation. In recent years we have had more difficulty in procuring vendor sponsorship. Consequently, we have had to cut back on some of the amenities for the drivers. This year, we face an even bigger deficit in our vendor funding and are once again turning to our districts for support and assistance.

The Montgomery/Bucks Pupil Transportation Association (MBPTA) would like to request a donation of $20 for each driver from your district who will be competing in this year’s event. Most districts enter the competition with a team of approximately 7 drivers. We are aware of the budgetary constraints on all our districts this year; however, we need you to support this worthwhile event.

On behalf of the directors of MBPTA and all of our drivers, we thank you in advance for your support and assistance with our Road-EO. Checks can be made out to “MBPTA Road-EO Fund” and can be delivered to our organization via your transportation department director. Thank you, once again, for your generosity and support! Hope to see you on April 30, 2016!
